At a recent event, NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership as a key factor in the New Delhi Municipal Council’s (NDMC) continued success in cleanliness rankings. Chahal stated that under PM Modi’s direction, the NDMC has consistently secured cleanliness awards each year. He emphasized the council’s dedication to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and urban development initiatives.
The NDMC has consistently been a leading example among civic bodies, regularly achieving top positions in the Swachh Survekshan rankings, a national cleanliness survey conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Chahal credited the Prime Minister’s vision and governance approach for cultivating a culture of accountability, hygiene, and long-term sustainability across all areas of urban management.
Chahal also mentioned that the NDMC’s accomplishments reflect the Prime Minister’s focus on transparent, technology-driven governance and citizen involvement. He stated that the NDMC has adopted innovations in waste segregation, door-to-door garbage collection, and sanitation management, which have established high benchmarks in urban hygiene. The NDMC’s strategies include smart infrastructure, green spaces, and efficient waste-to-energy conversion systems. According to Chahal, the results are evident not only in the awards received but also in the enhanced quality of life for residents and visitors to Lutyens’ Delhi.
