Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, reported a six percent decrease in India’s logistics costs, attributing the decline to the improved road infrastructure. The reduction from 16 percent is a result of the ongoing infrastructure development under the NDA government. Gadkari emphasized that these developments are critical for achieving the Prime Minister’s goal of establishing India as a ‘Vishwa Guru’ and building a $5 trillion economy. He pointed out that lower logistics costs are vital for increasing exports and fostering growth across various sectors. Gadkari highlighted the previous disparities in logistics costs compared to countries like China, the US, and those in Europe. He also mentioned the expectation of further reductions in the coming year and the goal of aligning India’s road infrastructure with that of the United States within two years.
