
The death of a young man in an open drain in Lucknow during heavy rains has prompted swift action from the Uttar Pradesh government. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his condolences and directed immediate measures. A junior engineer has been suspended, and an assistant engineer has been issued a show cause notice. The government has also announced financial assistance of Rs 9 lakh for the victim’s family. An FIR has been filed against the construction agency, highlighting the government’s focus on accountability. The victim, a daily wage worker, was reportedly returning home when he fell into the open drain. The body was recovered after an extensive search operation. The DCP of Lucknow West stated that the contractor responsible for cleaning also has an FIR filed against them.
