
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav declared that drug abuse severely impacts the well-being of families, society, and the nation, and the state government is committed to creating a drug-free Madhya Pradesh. The government is undertaking comprehensive measures to achieve this, including banning alcohol sales in 19 religious areas. The police conducted a successful campaign, ‘Distance from Drugs is Essential,’ from July 15th to July 31st and are focusing on the masterminds behind the drug trade.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Drug-Free India Campaign’ five years ago. Madhya Pradesh is focusing on social awareness and legal actions to fight against drug abuse. The government is firm in its resolve to eliminate the problem of addiction from society. The Bhopal Police have taken strong action against those involved in the illegal drug business.
The Chief Minister also distributed the Vivekananda Drug De-addiction Awards for 2023-24. He also facilitated the transfer of 339 crore rupees in pension funds to over 56 lakh beneficiaries. He also paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi’s portrait and reviewed an exhibition on drug de-addiction.
The Vivekananda Drug De-addiction Awards were given to Rajiv Tiwari, President of Shuddhi Nashamukti Kendra; Sujit Kumar Dwivedi, from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Seva Samiti; Rajesh Dandotia, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Indore; Prashant Choubey, Additional Superintendent of Police, Vidisha; and Santosh Patel, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Hawkforce Balaghat.
Dr. Yadav highlighted that the world admires the refined Indian philosophy based on knowledge and science. He pointed out that when Indian scientist Jagadish Chandra Bose stated that plants have life, scientists around the world were amazed. He also stressed the importance of individual values, cooperation, and social responsibility. India is known for harmony and its cultural heritage, which gives it a unique place globally.
The Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of the Gayatri Parivar and Brahma Kumaris in raising public awareness. He led all present in taking an oath as part of the drug-free campaign. He mentioned that the state government will celebrate the birth anniversaries of Lord Balram and Lord Krishna.
Social Justice and Disabled Welfare Minister Narayan Singh Kushwaha stated that this year marks the 5th anniversary of the ‘Drug-Free India Campaign’ initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A nationwide public awareness campaign is taking place throughout August. He emphasized that the campaign in Madhya Pradesh has been successful thanks to the leadership of Dr. Yadav, the police, and public support. He said drugs are a social ill, and with public support, the goal of a developed and prosperous India will be achieved.
