Navdunia Representative, Bhopal. In the name of performing Umrah pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, the Imam of a mosque in Jahangirabad area was defrauded of Rs 3 lakh. Imam had given Rs 3 lakh to a travel agent for performing Umrah six months ago.
For the first three months, the agent made excuses for not getting the visa and then switched off his phone and ran away. On the complaint of Imam, a case has been registered against the accused agent in Jahangirabad police station. Police is searching for the accused.
According to police, 45-year-old Sadar-e-Alam lives in Jahangirabad area and is an Imam in a mosque. About a year ago, he had met Rafiq alias Rakib in the mosque itself. Rafiq has a travel office in Karond area. Sadar-e-Alam and his five friends had given Rafiq Rs 3 lakh to perform Umrah in Saudi about six months ago.
After taking the money, Rafiq made an excuse for not getting a visa for the first three months and then talked about starting Haj. Later, when Sadar and his friends tried to contact Rafiq, his number was switched off, they searched for him for three months, but found his travel office closed. When he reached home, he was found missing, after which a complaint was lodged at Jahangirabad police station.
