The Maharashtra government, led by Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, has declared a zero-tolerance policy towards violence stemming from language disputes. Fadnavis asserted the government’s commitment to upholding the Marathi language but clarified that any form of hooliganism or physical attacks will not be permitted. He confirmed that authorities have already responded to a recent incident and will take legal action against any future violations. Fadnavis also commented on the irony of disputes regarding Hindi, especially given the widespread acceptance of English. The remarks of Minister Yogesh Kadam and Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray, further underscored the need for respect towards the Marathi language and the importance of maintaining peace.
