Following allegations of election rigging in Maharashtra, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has criticized the Election Commission of India (EC) for its response. Gandhi stated that unsigned notes were an insufficient response to the serious questions raised. He demanded that the ECI release consolidated, digital voter rolls for recent elections, including those in Maharashtra, and also provide all post-5 pm CCTV footage from polling booths in Maharashtra. The ECI had previously dismissed Gandhi’s allegations as unsubstantiated, pointing out that the commission had already addressed the issues in its previous response. The ECI accused Gandhi of spreading misinformation and disrespecting the rule of law. Gandhi had earlier alleged that the Maharashtra assembly election was rigged, and he claimed a similar pattern would be seen in the upcoming Bihar assembly polls. Deputy CM Eknath Shinde responded to Gandhi’s claims, suggesting that they were an attempt to create a false narrative.
