Controversy surrounds the execution of Nimisha Priya, a Kerala nurse convicted of murdering Yemeni businessman Talal Abdo Mahdi. Talal’s brother, Abdul Fattah Mahdi, has rebuked Muslim cleric Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliyar for spreading unverified information about a possible delay in the execution. Fattah has requested a live broadcast to clarify the situation.
Simultaneously, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has stated that there has been no official notification of any change in Nimisha Priya’s death sentence. The MEA clarified that it had not received any such information.
Abdul Fattah Mahdi has also urged Yemen’s Attorney General to enforce the court’s verdict promptly, emphasizing his family’s demand for justice under Sharia law. The family demands the implementation of the court’s decision without delay and disputes any claims of agreements with third parties.
