The Meghalaya honeymoon murder investigation saw the police confirm confessions from Sonam Raghuvanshi and her accomplice, who have admitted to the crime. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has denied the victim’s family’s request for a narco test, arguing that they have enough existing evidence. East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Vivek Syiem, confirmed this decision, highlighting that narco test results are not admissible in court. The police emphasized that the confession and crime scene reconstruction provided substantial evidence. The police clarified that the motive wasn’t solely financial; the individuals sought to remove the victim from their relationship and future plans. The police are now focusing on Lokendra Tomar, who owns an infrastructure company and a flat in Indore where Sonam stayed. Police are also investigating the disappearance of a bag from the flat, which reportedly held a pistol, mobile phone, Raja’s jewelry, and cash, and suspecting evidence tampering, with two individuals under scrutiny. The police are also seeking to recover the jewelry. Silome James, Balveer, and Lokendra Tomar are expected to appear in a Shillong court for further proceedings, with James and Balveer facing additional interrogation.
