
Ongoing heavy rain continues to disrupt life in several states, causing significant waterlogging and traffic congestion. Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Assam, and Mizoram experienced torrential rainfall on Wednesday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has advised residents to monitor weather conditions closely, warning of continued heavy showers in various states through August 30.
The IMD anticipates isolated heavy rainfall in Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim until August 30. Bihar and Jharkhand are also expected to experience heavy monsoon rains on August 29th and 30th. Himachal Pradesh is facing disruptions due to landslides and flash floods, resulting in fatalities. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for rain in specific areas of Himachal Pradesh, including Solan and Simaur.
Further, torrential rains are predicted to continue in Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, and Haryana for the next seven days. Other areas expected to receive rain include Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab from August 30th to September 1st; West Rajasthan from August 29th-31st; and Uttar Pradesh on September 1st and 2nd. Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is also likely in Northwest India. Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, and West Rajasthan will experience showers today, with Uttarakhand receiving rain for the next week.
Heavy rainfall is predicted to persist in Arunachal Pradesh from August 28th to 30th. Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura will also receive rain during the next seven days.
