After battering the Andhra Pradesh coastline, Cyclone Montha has transitioned from a severe cyclonic storm to a regular cyclonic storm, with further weakening into a deep depression anticipated. The India Meteorological Department confirmed the cyclone’s shift inland, moving at about 10 kilometers per hour. Its passage brought torrential rains and gusty winds, impacting districts like West Godavari, Krishna, and East Godavari. The storm’s core is presently situated west-northwest of Narsapur. Authorities have issued advisories for potential flooding in vulnerable areas. Devastating crop losses have been reported across Andhra Pradesh, affecting both agriculture and horticulture. Odisha too faced the brunt, with heavy rains causing widespread disruption, including landslides and damage to infrastructure in its southern parts.
