Madhya Pradesh is gearing up to celebrate independence with a unique campaign: ‘Har Ghar Tiranga, Har Ghar Swachhta: Swatantrata Ka Utsav, Swachhta Ke Sang’, meaning ‘Tricolor in Every Home, Cleanliness in Every Home: Celebration of Independence, with Cleanliness’. The initiative will unfold in three stages, aiming to encourage citizens to display the national flag at their homes. This effort seeks to ignite patriotism and honor the national flag, while simultaneously emphasizing cleanliness and water conservation. It directly supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Mission.
The government is committed to turning this campaign into a widespread movement, ensuring every citizen can participate. The campaign is scheduled to run from August 2 to August 15, 2025, encompassing three distinct phases.
The first phase, from August 2 to August 8, will focus on building a patriotic atmosphere and conducting public programs centered on the tricolor. Schools, colleges, and public spaces will be decorated with tricolor-themed art and rangoli. Activities like quizzes on the history of the flag, workshops for making tricolor rakhis, and letter-writing competitions will be held. Displays of woven art using the colors of the tricolor will also be featured.
The second phase, from August 9 to August 12, will feature a Tiranga Mahotsav with large-scale events. Community-based awareness programs, Tiranga Yatras, and cultural activities will be organized. This stage aims to bring people together, promote wide awareness, make flags accessible, and enhance the visibility of the tricolor in public areas. This will involve events like a Tiranga Mela, showcasing local products, Tiranga-themed concerts, bike/cycle rallies, Tiranga Yatras with high public involvement, flag sales, and proper distribution, along with human chains and Tiranga anthems.
The third phase, from August 13 to August 15, will involve hoisting the tricolor on homes, offices, and vehicles. It will also include selfie uploads, widespread flag visibility, and continuous information exchange with the Ministry of Culture. Key activities will center around the tricolor. The flag will be prominently displayed on all government buildings, educational institutions, offices, and public places.
The Madhya Pradesh government has undertaken extensive preparations to ensure the campaign’s success. The Culture Department has provided detailed guidelines to all district collectors. This campaign is a collaborative effort between the Central Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, the Ministry of Jal Shakti, and the Ministry of Culture, founded on the principles of collective celebration and civic unity. It merges the essence of independence with a dedication to cleanliness and sustainable water management. This approach will support the Prime Minister’s vision by providing safe water, promoting effective water and sanitation practices, and enhancing rural sanitation. The campaign will emphasize activities related to cleanliness and water conservation.
Under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM-G) and the Jal-Jeevan Mission (JJM), various activities will be carried out in villages and Gram Panchayats. These include Swachh Sujal Gaon pledges, community cleaning drives, asset cleaning, awareness activities, and water conservation efforts. Flag hoisting ceremonies will be held on August 15, 2025, at key WASH infrastructure sites like Amrit Sarovar and other public locations. These actions reflect the freedom, dignity, and well-being that access to safe water and sanitation provides.
Active participation from districts, blocks, and Gram Panchayats will be ensured throughout the campaign. Local institutions, Gram Jal Seva Samitis, Self-Help Groups, Panchayati Raj institutions, volunteers, and frontline workers will be encouraged to take the lead and participate. Panchayats, Self-Help Groups, school students, Gram Jal Samitis, and frontline workers will be involved. The General Administration Department has issued instructions to all Divisional Commissioners, Collectors, and relevant departments to ensure the campaign’s smooth implementation.
The campaign transcends merely hoisting the flag, encompassing patriotism, cleanliness, and environmental protection. It will be celebrated in rural and urban Madhya Pradesh, involving school children, youth, and all segments of the community. Tricolor rakhi making and rangoli competitions will foster creativity and patriotism among children and youth.
The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga, Har Ghar Swachhta’ campaign is set to add a new dimension to the celebration of independence in Madhya Pradesh. It will boost respect for the national flag and help meet important social goals related to cleanliness and water conservation. The public of Madhya Pradesh is urged to participate enthusiastically and hoist the tricolor at their homes to strengthen the spirit of patriotism.
