The state of Gujarat mourned the loss of former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, whose last rites were conducted with full state honors in Rajkot. The funeral saw the presence of numerous prominent figures, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The last rites, held at the Ramnathpara crematorium, included a 21-gun salute in honor of the departed leader. The procession was carefully managed by the Rajkot Police, which implemented strict security and traffic regulations. Before the cremation, a solemn tribute was paid at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, where Chief Minister Patel and other ministers offered their respects. Family members, including former Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, were also present, with Rupani’s wife, Anjali Rupani, expressing her deep sorrow. Rushabh Rupani, the son of the deceased, acknowledged the widespread support and remembered his father’s dedication to public service. He also reflected on the impact his father had on the lives of many during his political career. Rupani was among the victims of the Air India plane crash near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. Vishwashkumar Ramesh, a British national of Indian origin, survived the crash and is currently receiving medical attention.
