In a significant development related to the National Herald case, the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police has issued a notice to Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar. The notice, dated November 29, sets a deadline of December 19 for Shivakumar to either appear in person before the investigators or submit detailed information as requested.
The investigation is reportedly seeking extensive details about Shivakumar’s personal history and his financial links and transactions within the Congress party. This inquiry is understood to be part of a larger probe stemming from an FIR that targets Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Officials are exploring the possibility that Shivakumar possesses critical documentation or insights into fund transfers to the entity known as Young Indian, which has been a focal point in the case.
Shivakumar has previously voiced strong opposition to the ongoing investigations, labeling them as a politically motivated campaign against Rahul Gandhi. He has emphasized the historical context of the National Herald as a party mouthpiece and a collective asset, with leaders holding positions of responsibility. He has appealed for fair political discourse, warning against the detrimental effects of using official agencies for political retribution. In recent statements, Shivakumar also highlighted the united front of the Karnataka Congress legislators.
