A momentous occasion unfolded in Bastar as the national flag was raised in 29 villages on Independence Day, for the first time since India’s independence. This action signifies a significant change in areas previously controlled by Naxal groups. The tricolour’s presence represents a new beginning for the region. This achievement underscores the impact of new security strategies, the establishment of camps, and sustained pressure on Naxal cadres. Alongside these efforts, the government is implementing development schemes such as Niyad Nella Nar Yojana, and expanding infrastructure, health care, and education, thereby building trust and fostering progress. The initiative reflects the combined efforts of security personnel, state and central governments, and, critically, the local populace’s trust.
