A fresh NCERT module’s stance on India’s partition has ignited a political dispute, with the BJP targeting the Congress. The module places responsibility for the partition on Jinnah, the Congress, and Mountbatten, a claim that the Congress disputes, instead blaming the RSS, Hindu Mahasabha, and Muslim League. Gaurav Bhatia, the BJP’s National Spokesperson, countered the Congress’s stance, alleging that the ‘Rahul-Jinnah’ faction is distressed by the revelation of facts. He stated that NCERT’s curriculum changes, which included the truth of partition, have caused discomfort. According to Bhatia, the ideologies of Rahul Gandhi and Mohammad Ali Jinnah are similar. During a press conference, Bhatia stated that the partition of India was based on religion, and Jinnah’s appeasement policies are reflected in the Congress. He pointed out that the Congress supports reservations based on religion, echoing Jinnah’s views, and advocates for Sharia law in the country. Bhatia questioned the Congress’s discomfort with the inclusion of partition in the new curriculum. He also criticized the Congress for questioning the RSS, an organization that has preserved India’s heritage. He noted that even Jawaharlal Nehru had invited the RSS to the Republic Day parade in 1963.
