Spirit Air is introducing a new air service plan under the UDAN scheme to connect several smaller cities in Bihar to major cities across India. The cities included in this plan are Birpur, Saharsa, Munger, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Raxaul, Valmikinagar, and Bihta. This initiative is intended to boost regional connectivity, promote economic development, and generate employment opportunities.
The initiative supports the Indian government’s goal of making air travel more accessible to the public and driving regional growth in less-developed areas. Spirit Air’s plan will improve air connectivity, help Bihar’s economy, empower rural areas, and give access to new markets.
Spirit Air, headquartered in Bengaluru, is managed by a team of experienced former Air India officials with extensive experience in aviation. Spirit Air’s upcoming fleet for RCS operations in Bihar consists of Islander BN2T-4S STOL (Short Takeoff & Landing) aircraft for passengers, cargo, and medical services, and King Air 250, a high-performance aircraft.
The initial phase of regional passenger air service will begin with operations in Birpur, Saharsa, Munger, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Raxaul, Valmikinagar, and Bihta.
These airports will offer connections to major cities such as Varanasi, Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai. Bihta will have direct links to Patna, Jamshedpur, and Bokaro.
International connections will include Muzaffarpur to Kathmandu and Janakpur (Nepal), Birpur to Rajbiraj and Biratnagar (Nepal), Valmikinagar to Kathmandu and Bhairahawa (Nepal), and Bihta to Kathmandu.
In partnership with DTDS Travel & Tour Planner Pvt. Ltd., Spirit Air will offer passengers a comprehensive door-to-door travel service. This includes pick-up from home, airport drop-off, flights, and drop-off at the final destination, all with a single payment, online booking, and reasonable fees.
Major benefits are time and cost savings, the ability to book the entire trip on one platform, reliable and comfortable service, ideal for senior citizens, families, tourists, and business travelers, and 24/7 support.
This will encourage regional and national tourism, bring in investment in aviation, hospitality, and transportation, stimulate local economic development, support smart and connected infrastructure, and establish Spirit Air as a top regional carrier.
