Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to convene a vital security review meeting for Jammu and Kashmir on October 9, 2025, in New Delhi. The session will concentrate on the prevailing security conditions in the Union Territory, with a particular emphasis on preparedness for the winter months. A key item on the agenda is the reported consolidation of terrorist groups, specifically an alleged alliance between Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP).
During the meeting, Shah is expected to advocate for intensified efforts to cut off terror funding. Security agencies will receive clear mandates for prompt action against financial flows that support terrorism, especially those linked to the narcotics trade. Measures to combat hostile propaganda from anti-national elements will also be discussed, aiming to ensure accurate public perception.
A focused review of the security situation in the Pir Panjal valley, where recent attacks have occurred, is planned. Security forces will be pushed to redouble their efforts to ensure zero infiltration across the borders. The potential ramifications of the reported LeT-ISKP alliance, reportedly backed by Pakistan’s ISI from Balochistan, will be analyzed to devise a robust joint defense.
Strengthening the coordinated response among the Indian Army, BSF, CRPF, Intelligence Bureau, and Jammu and Kashmir Police will be a central theme. The meeting will also receive an update on the progress made in dismantling the terror infrastructure behind the April 2025 Pahalgam incident. The ongoing developmental agenda aimed at ensuring enduring peace and prosperity will also be briefly reviewed.
