IIM Sambalpur is playing a pivotal role in Odisha’s vision for a sustainable future. Collaborating with the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) and the University of Maryland, the institution is contributing significantly to the state’s economic transformation. Through the Economic Transition Coalition Odisha (ETCO), IIM Sambalpur is developing a comprehensive plan aimed at harmonizing job creation, economic growth, and environmental sustainability. The plan, detailed in a white paper, draws on the expertise of IIM Sambalpur, industry experts, and academic leaders, along with CGS’s insights on energy transition. It proposes a roadmap for Odisha to become a high-income, inclusive, and net-zero economy by 2050. The key strategies include promoting equitable incomes, sustainable food systems, climate resilience, biodiversity protection, and achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. The initiative also focuses on utilizing Odisha’s resources to establish a global hub for green manufacturing and exports, while prioritizing environmental protection and community participation.
