With the Vice Presidential election approaching on September 9th, political activities are escalating. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has declared its backing for the INDIA bloc’s candidate, former Supreme Court Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, in the upcoming election.
Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of AIMIM, announced the party’s decision to support B. Sudarshan Reddy for the Vice Presidential position via a post on the platform ‘X’.
Owaisi mentioned that the Telangana Chief Minister’s office had contacted him, seeking AIMIM’s support for B. Sudarshan Reddy, the candidate nominated by the INDIA coalition. He stated that AIMIM had decided to provide their support to B. Sudarshan Reddy.
In his post, MP Owaisi pointed out that Justice Sudarshan Reddy is from Hyderabad and is recognized for his legal expertise. Owaisi mentioned that he had a personal discussion with Reddy and conveyed his best wishes. Owaisi added that supporting him, given his connection to Telangana, would be a proud moment for them.
The INDIA coalition has chosen Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy as their candidate for Vice President, who will be competing against NDA candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan. Owaisi’s support is viewed as a significant development in Telangana’s political scene and could strengthen Justice Reddy’s position.
Regarding the decision, Owaisi emphasized that safeguarding constitutional values and democracy has been a core principle throughout his career. He also indicated that the decision represents the party’s ideals and regional identity.
