Indian airspace remains closed to Pakistani aircraft, as a recently issued Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) extends the restrictions until July 24. This marks the second extension of the original NOTAM, which was set to expire on June 23, 2025. The initial restrictions, in place from May 1, 2025, to May 23, 2025, target aircraft registered in Pakistan, as well as those operated, owned, or leased by Pakistani airlines and operators, including military flights. The ban was introduced on April 30, following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, in which 26 people were killed. According to the Civil Aviation Minister, the government has decided to maintain the existing status quo, extending the NOTAM without any changes. The extended closure of Indian airspace for Pakistani airlines and aircraft is part of a wider strategy. Other steps included the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, the closure of the Attari land border crossing, and a downgrading of diplomatic ties.
