The Winter Session of Parliament is underway, signaling a busy period of legislative work. The government intends to introduce and push forward a significant number of bills during this session. Concurrently, the Opposition is preparing to bring critical national issues to the forefront. A primary focus for the Opposition is expected to be the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process for electoral rolls in multiple states, alongside growing concerns over Delhi’s severe air pollution.
Other contentious topics may also surface during debates. In an effort to ensure parliamentary decorum and efficiency, the government initiated dialogue through an all-party meeting, attended by 50 leaders from 36 parties. This proactive step aimed to build bridges and facilitate constructive engagement. Leading opposition parties have also been holding internal discussions to fine-tune their strategies. The session is slated to run until December 19th, providing a vital platform for governance and public discourse.
