In a bid to modernize Patna’s transportation network, the Mithapur-Mahuli elevated road was inaugurated on June 16th. The Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, oversaw the inauguration of the newly built elevated road. The project aims to provide significant relief to the city’s commuters, especially those residing in the southern part of Patna, by reducing traffic congestion and improving overall connectivity.
This new road is part of the larger Mithapur-Mahuli-Punpun project, which involves the construction of an elevated road from Bhupatipur to Punpun (NH-22) with an investment of Rs 1400 crore. The inauguration ceremony was attended by key figures including Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen, alongside Ravi Shankar Prasad, the Lok Sabha representative from Patna Sahib, and Mrs. Misa Bharti, the MP from the Pataliputra constituency.
The completion of the Mithapur-Mahuli elevated road is set to benefit residents of southern Patna, simplifying travel to and from locations such as Jehanabad, Arwal, Bihar Sharif, and Gaya. The initial phase, which included the construction from Sipara to Mahuli, has already been finalized. The Mithapur-Mahuli elevated road project is being developed in two phases. The current phase focuses on a 2.10 km elevated road from Mithapur to Sipara and a 2.20 km four-lane road connecting Mahuli to Punpun. The Road Construction Department has estimated the completion of the Mithapur to Sipara section by November this year.
