During his visit to Cyprus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted with a traditional Indian welcome by a member of the Nicosia Council, Michaela Kythreoti Mhlapa, who touched his feet as a mark of respect. PM Modi acknowledged the gesture. Adding to the visit’s significance, President Nikos Christodoulides presented PM Modi with the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III, Cyprus’s highest honor. PM Modi accepted the award on behalf of all Indians and expressed his commitment to the shared values of peace, security, and mutual understanding. The visit, the first by an Indian PM in two decades, included a warm reception from the Indian diaspora and discussions with business leaders.
