Prime Minister Narendra Modi is preparing for an extensive foreign tour from July 2 to July 9, which will be his longest in the last ten years. The primary focus of this visit will be on strengthening ties with countries in South America, the Caribbean, and Africa. The Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed the schedule, starting in Ghana and concluding in Namibia, with planned stops in Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, and Brazil.
In Ghana, the Prime Minister will be the first Indian leader to visit in three decades, where he will support a vaccine production center and address the parliament. The visit to Trinidad and Tobago, at the invitation of Prime Minister Kamala Prasad-Bissessar, will also mark a historic moment as the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 25 years, including an address to the joint session of Parliament. Discussions in Argentina with President Javier Miley will focus on bolstering cooperation in areas like defense and trade. The Prime Minister will then participate in the 17th BRICS summit in Brazil. The final stop in Namibia will see the Prime Minister meet President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and address the Parliament. A key agenda item in Namibia is the implementation of India’s digital payment system, UPI.
