In a major breakthrough in the Gopal Khemka murder investigation, a key suspect, identified as Vikas aka Raja, was killed during a police encounter in Bihar. The Bihar Police confirmed the death in an official statement, indicating the encounter occurred near Damaiya ghat around 2:45 AM. Law enforcement recovered a pistol, a bullet, and a cartridge from the location. Preliminary investigations suggest Vikas was involved in the unlawful manufacturing and sale of firearms.
The body has been sent to Nalanda Medical College in Patna for a post-mortem.
JD(U) leader Rajeev Ranjan stated that Bihar’s Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, is closely monitoring the developments. Ranjan added that, according to available information, the suspect had attempted to attack the police.
