A significant political dispute has erupted as BJP leader CR Kesavan accused Rahul Gandhi of acting in favor of Pakistan. The statement was made in response to Gandhi’s remarks, in which he claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had acquiesced to a request by former US President Donald Trump, resulting in an end to hostilities with Pakistan. Kesavan accused Gandhi of using Pakistan’s interests to advance his own political ambitions, and noted that Gandhi’s statements were being broadcast on Pakistani television, thereby circulating a damaging narrative against India and its military forces. Kesavan expressed strong disapproval of Gandhi’s conduct and predicted his failure. Earlier, Gandhi had criticized the BJP-led government over its handling of Operation Sindoor. Speaking at a Congress workers’ convention in Bhopal, he attacked the BJP-RSS, portraying them as easily swayed by pressure. Gandhi drew a comparison between the 1971 war and the current situation, contrasting Indira Gandhi’s actions with Modi’s alleged response to Trump. The comments were made in light of US President Donald Trump repeatedly claiming credit for halting hostilities after India’s actions against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and PoJK following the Pahalgam terror attack.
