Amidst the ongoing ‘I Love Mohammad’ trend, the Congress party has joined the fray with its own initiative, ‘I Love Constitution.’ This response is visible through hoardings placed outside the Congress office in Lucknow. The posters prominently feature Congress leader Rahul Gandhi along with other key party members. The posters were organized by Congress leader Abdullah Sherkhan. The initial ‘I Love Mohammad’ controversy triggered multiple trends across social media platforms. In response, campaigns such as ‘I Love Mahadev,’ ‘I Love Mahakal,’ and ‘I Love Ram’ gained traction. Supporting and opposing campaigns are active in regions like Uttarakhand, Telangana, and Maharashtra. The root of this controversy dates back to September 4th, in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and has since spread to several other states. The incident originated during the Barawafat procession in Rawatpur, Kanpur, where a light board displaying ‘I Love Mohammad’ was erected, associated with the celebration of Eid Milad-un-Nabi. The Muslim perspective views ‘I love Mohammad’ as a matter of faith and not a violation. The raising of contentious slogans was reported in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. Similar slogans and related protests took place in Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, and Telangana. Parallel incidents also took place in Gujarat. From the Hindu perspective, it is claimed that the banners were a deliberate provocation, with local Hindu organizations voicing their disapproval and accusing the act of disrupting communal peace.
