A significant debate has been initiated by MP Supriya Sule’s statements regarding her consumption of non-vegetarian food. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has responded to the controversy, stating he will not provide a comment and leaving the response to the Varkari devotees, who are known for their devotion to Pandurang and adherence to vegetarianism.
Supriya Sule clarified that her non-vegetarian diet is acceptable to her deity, Pandurang. She stated that she doesn’t like negativity and follows Ramkrishna Hari, and she worships Lord Pandurang. She doesn’t wear a Tulsi mala due to her occasional non-vegetarian meals and honesty. She highlighted that her family members also eat non-vegetarian food with their own money, and they openly do so, questioning the problem with her dietary choices if her deity has no issue with it. She mentioned that a single instance of her eating non-vegetarian food triggered a conversation and she eats non-vegetarian food openly, leading to the decision to not wear a Tulsi mala.
BJP leader Nitesh Rane criticized Sule’s comments, questioning why she only targets Hinduism. He challenged her to make similar statements about other religions. He said repeatedly criticizing Hinduism and Hindu deities is not right.
