Patna, Bihar, witnessed clashes between BJP and Congress workers on Friday. The unrest was fueled by allegations of insulting comments targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother, made during an INDIA bloc rally in Darbhanga. The BJP protested in front of the Congress office in Patna, resulting in stone-pelting. Nitin Nabin, a Bihar Minister and BJP leader, stated that the public would deliver a ‘befitting reply’ to the Congress, framing it as an insult to a mother. Ashutosh, a Congress worker, criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, alleging the government’s involvement in the clash. Police in Darbhanga arrested a man accused of making abusive remarks against PM Modi. The incident originated from an alleged video that surfaced online, showing the accused using offensive language towards PM Modi during an INDIA bloc event. BJP leaders have criticized the Opposition’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ for the derogatory language used. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condemned the comments, viewing them as an affront to the Indian people. Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav also strongly criticized the Congress and RJD, calling for an apology. The Opposition has responded by accusing the BJP of employing ‘irrelevant’ issues to divert attention from pressing matters.
