An intricate web of ownership has emerged surrounding the Hyundai i20 used in the recent Delhi blast. The vehicle reportedly changed hands five times in just 11 years. Disturbingly, the last buyer is said to have used identification indicating a Pulwama address to seal the deal. The car was acquired for ₹1.70 lakh via an online marketplace, with plans to complete the ownership transfer after its use in the explosion, following a renewal of its pollution certificate.
The car, identified by registration number HR26CE7476, began its journey in a Gurugram showroom in March 2014. Within three years, it was sold to a new owner in Gurugram who completed the registration. The vehicle then went through several transactions, including an exchange via a used car agency in March 2024, and was sold to a Delhi resident. This particular transfer, however, was not officially finalized according to sources. The car was later traded to a Faridabad car dealership.
The Faridabad dealership listed the car for sale online. Two individuals, one identified as Aamir Rashid, inspected the vehicle on October 29, 2025, and proceeded with the purchase. Rashid provided documents showing a Pulwama address. The car was sold for ₹1.70 lakh. A staff member at the dealership reportedly handled the transaction and received a commission. It is understood that the purchase was financed by an associate of Al Falah Medical College.
Following the sale, the car was reportedly given to an individual associated with the medical college. Although the car had valid insurance, its pollution certificate had expired and was subsequently renewed. The process to transfer ownership was ongoing but was interrupted by the blast. Official records indicate the car is still registered under the name of the 2017 owner. Sources also revealed that a suspect in the case had previously worked as a plumber at Al Falah University.
