
Gatka, the traditional martial art, will be a part of the Pythian Cultural Games, with international competitions set to take place next year in Moscow. This was revealed by Bijender Goel, Chairman of the Pythian Council of India and Founder of the Pythian Games, during the inauguration of the 12th National Gatka Championship in New Delhi. Goel expressed his support for the World Gatka Federation, Asian Gatka Federation, and National Gatka Association of India (NGAI) to help promote Gatka on a global scale.
Shantanu Agrahari, IAS, president of the Pythian Council, spoke about the vision of the Pythian Games. Delhi MLA Jarnail Singh acknowledged Gatka’s potential as a sport and its value in self-defense, encouraging the youth to participate. Dr. Tejinderpal Singh Nalwa, President of the Asian Gatka Federation, along with Harjeet Singh Grewal, President of NGAI, and Sukhchain Singh Kalsani, Acting President, highlighted the significance of Gatka’s inclusion in the Pythian Games. The event saw the presence of other dignitaries representing various organizations and states.
