The Congress party is seeking legal action against BJP spokesperson Printu Mahadev following alleged threats made against Rahul Gandhi during a television debate in Kerala. The Congress has approached Home Minister Amit Shah demanding swift action. The party has expressed concern over Mahadev’s remarks, which it considers inflammatory and dangerous.
Printu Mahadev, who previously held a leadership position in the ABVP, now represents the BJP. The controversial statement was made during a debate on a Malayalam television channel, where he discussed the Ladakh violence. Mahadev is accused of threatening to shoot Rahul Gandhi.
Members of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) have condemned the remarks and demanded that the police immediately file a case. Ramesh Chennithala has criticized the Kerala police’s delay in taking action, suggesting a possible understanding between the BJP and the CPI(M). K.C. Venugopal, a senior Congress leader, emphasized that such statements from a ruling party spokesperson are a direct threat to Rahul Gandhi’s safety and violate constitutional principles. Venugopal also noted that the CRPF, which provides security to Rahul Gandhi, has issued security warnings related to potential threats.
