The Indian Railway has issued a directive to all railway zones, urging increased diligence during infrastructure-related work. The Railway Board noted that damage to signaling and telecommunication cables is a recurring issue, leading to signal failures, which in turn endangers train safety and operational reliability. The Board cautioned that failure to adhere to safety measures could have devastating repercussions.
The Railway Board’s letter outlines the ongoing projects nationwide, including track doubling, yard remodeling, boundary wall construction, limited height subways, Automatic Block Signaling (ABS), and the Kavach safety system. These projects necessitate activities which have led to the cutting of signal cables, causing signal failures and impeding train operations.
