Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has signaled a significant industrial shift for Bihar, stating that the state is moving beyond the production of ‘katta’ (local pistols) and ‘laltane’ (lanterns) to become a hub for manufacturing advanced defense equipment, including missiles and cannons. During a public address in the Ramgarh constituency, Singh announced the government’s intention to establish a defense industrial corridor in Bihar. This move is expected to drive industrial growth and create considerable employment.
“Now Bihar will not make kattas, it will make missiles and cannons,” Singh declared, highlighting the NDA’s agenda of development and self-sufficiency. He referred to the NDA’s manifesto as the ‘Atal Pratigya,’ underscoring the alliance’s firm resolve to serve Bihar. The government’s focus on job creation involves developing MSME corridors and the new defense corridor, aiming to provide more opportunities rather than making unfeasible promises of government jobs for every household. Singh emphasized a pragmatic approach to employment generation.
At another rally in Karakat, Singh criticized the Congress party for what he termed divisive politics, alleging attempts to polarize the electorate along caste and religious lines. He specifically cited a Congress leader’s remarks about the party’s affinity with Muslims as an instance of appeasement. Singh asserted that the BJP’s political philosophy is rooted in ‘justice and humanity,’ free from divisive strategies. He also addressed criticism from Rahul Gandhi regarding the Election Commission, accusing him of spreading falsehoods and advocating for politics that builds the nation. Singh reaffirmed the NDA’s commitment to its manifesto, emphasizing Prime Minister Modi’s dedication to fulfilling promises and maintaining public trust through responsible governance.
