A significant breakthrough involves the Kuki-Zo Council’s decision to reopen National Highway-2. This follows a series of discussions between the Council and the Ministry of Home Affairs, encompassing the highway’s reopening and agreements that seek to promote peace and stability within the state. The Ministry of Home Affairs has been dedicated to dialogue with the various groups involved in the Manipur unrest. The reopening of National Highway-2 is a critical development, recognizing the highway’s importance as a lifeline for Manipur. It connects Imphal to Kangpokpi, Churachandpur and other key locations. The decision to close the highway, stemming from ethnic tensions, impacted the Kuki community in Churachandpur.
