
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is celebrating its 100th anniversary today. The centenary year celebrations began at 7:40 AM at the Resham Bagh ground in Nagpur, with over 21,000 volunteers in attendance. Former President Ram Nath Kovind is the chief guest for the event.
Before the main proceedings, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat performed the Shastra Pujan. The program includes yoga, practical demonstrations, mock combat, musical performances and a parade. The Vijayadashami festival is also being celebrated across more than 83,000 RSS branches across the country. The RSS was founded by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar on Vijayadashami in 1925.
Mohan Bhagwat has been the Sarsanghchalak of the RSS since 2009. Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, the founder, was the first Sarsanghchalak. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the centenary by releasing a commemorative postage stamp and a 100-rupee coin.
International guests from countries including Ghana, South Africa, Indonesia, Thailand, the UK, and the USA are participating in the Vijayadashami celebrations.
At the Vijayadashami celebrations in Nagpur, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat paid tribute to Dr. Hedgewar, the founder of the organization. Former President Ram Nath Kovind was also present. Both Mohan Bhagwat and former President Ram Nath Kovind participated in the Shastra Pujan on the occasion of Vijayadashami 2025.
