A court in Goa has issued an injunction against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh, preventing him from making any statements concerning Sulakshana Sawant, the wife of Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. This order is in effect until the resolution of a defamation case filed by Sawant. The defamation suit, which seeks ₹100 crore in damages, was initiated by Sulakshana Sawant, a BJP member, after Sanjay Singh accused her of corruption.
The interim order, delivered by Ad-Hoc Civil Judge (Senior Division) Anuradha Andrade of Bicholim, prohibits Sanjay Singh and his associates from making any statements that could negatively impact Sulakshana Sawant’s image. The court has stipulated that this restriction will remain in place until the final judgment in the case is delivered.
Sulakshana Sawant’s complaint alleges that Sanjay Singh made false and defamatory statements aimed at harming her and her family’s reputation. Specifically, Singh stated during a press conference in Delhi on December 4th that jobs were being sold in Goa, and he implicated the Chief Minister’s wife, state ministers, and their close associates in the alleged scheme.
Sanjay Singh’s legal representative, Surel Tilve, informed that an affidavit has been presented to the court, confirming that Singh will refrain from making any further comments on the matter pending the trial’s conclusion. The legal team is awaiting the court order’s copy to assess the possibility of filing an appeal.
