High-level discussions between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval took place today in preparation for the SCO Summit. The meeting served as a platform to acknowledge the improving bilateral relations between the two countries.
Ajit Doval highlighted the positive developments in the relationship, including the quiet borders and the prevalence of peace and tranquility. He pointed out the substantial bilateral engagements and thanked the leadership for setting a new trend in Kazan last October. He believes this new environment is supporting the progress in various collaborative areas.
Wang Yi shared his pleasure at meeting in New Delhi to discuss the boundary question, stating the setbacks in the past were not beneficial to either country. He emphasized the importance of the meeting between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Modi in Kazan, which set the stage for bilateral relations and advanced the resolution of the boundary question.
The meeting comes as both countries aim to build on recent progress and sustain momentum in bilateral dialogue. It follows critical talks between India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Wang on Monday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to meet Wang Yi later today at his official residence, marking Wang’s first visit to India in three years and hinting at a potential shift in relations between the two nations.
