
According to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), the death toll in Himachal Pradesh has reached 80. The fatalities are attributed to heavy rain-related incidents and other factors. Specifically, 52 deaths resulted directly from disasters such as landslides, flash floods, and cloudbursts. In addition, 28 deaths were caused by road accidents and other incidents. Mandi district has been identified as the worst-hit, accounting for 17 rain-related deaths, followed by Kangra with 11. The SDMA’s data, gathered from June 20 to July 7, also includes deaths resulting from electrocution, snake bites, and falls from heights. The state has also recorded 128 injuries, substantial damage to hundreds of homes, and extensive damage to public infrastructure. Flash floods, cloudbursts, and landslides have caused widespread disruption in the hill districts. Rescue operations are ongoing, with the support of NDRF and SDRF teams. The public is urged to remain vigilant and avoid high-risk areas.
