Authorities are actively searching for a lawyer after a first-year female law student was found dead inside his chamber in Kakdwip, South 24 Parganas. The discovery on Thursday has led to the registration of an unnatural death case and a high-priority manhunt.
The student, hailing from Gandhinagar, was reportedly attending the lawyer’s chamber daily for her legal studies. Her family last saw her on Wednesday morning. Later that day, they were informed of her tragic discovery, hanging in the lawyer’s office located in the Pratapaditya Gram Panchayat area. Police were immediately alerted.
Investigators found a bag at the scene containing a love letter. The student’s relatives have accused the lawyer, citing the letter as evidence of a close connection and suggesting relationship troubles as a potential motive for the extreme act. A formal complaint has been lodged with the Kakdwip Police.
An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the death, with the body sent for a post-mortem. Officials have confirmed that the lawyer has been missing since the incident, and a widespread search is in progress. The local community is deeply disturbed by the student’s demise, and police are exploring all possibilities, including suicide and homicide.
