
The Indian Army’s Southern Command has successfully executed ‘Exercise Maru Jwala’ in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, a significant demonstration of its combat readiness and joint operational capabilities as part of the Tri-Services Exercise Trishul. The drill showcased the collective strength of elite military formations.
Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, Southern Command’s General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, described Maru Jwala as the vital final stage of a comprehensive two-month training regimen by the Sudarshan Chakra Corps, the command’s primary strike corps. This intensive preparation culminated in the impressive display of power.
Elite units formed the backbone of the exercise, featuring specialized and rapid response formations. The Shahbaz Division, renowned for its swift deployment, participated alongside the Southern Command’s Aviation Brigade, EW Brigade, and a Para-SF Battalion. Lieutenant General Seth specifically mentioned the role of the 7th Para Battalion and the Airborne Battalion as ‘pathfinders’ and the ‘strategic force’ driving the operation’s success.
Highlighting the force’s evolution, Lieutenant General Seth praised the troops’ professionalism and adeptness in incorporating advanced military technology. He conveyed his confidence in the Sudarshan Chakra Corps’ capacity to effectively utilize newly acquired, state-of-the-art equipment. The exercise underscored the seamless integration and high level of preparedness across various branches of the Indian Armed Forces.
