The Supreme Court’s recent directive concerning stray dogs has triggered a debate. While some have applauded the verdict, others have raised concerns, resulting in a spectrum of opinions. Barun Das, the MD and CEO of TV9 Network, has also contributed his thoughts on this issue.
Das remarked that the conduct of stray dogs mirrors societal norms. The Supreme Court has instructed that all stray dogs in Delhi-NCR be moved to shelter homes within an eight-week period.
“Animals only respond when they perceive a threat,” Das stated. He elaborated that a dog’s reaction to a visitor in a specific locality indicates the prevailing social conditions. Moreover, he proposed that a dog’s attack on a child might be linked to prior instances of maltreatment.
Barun Das commended the Supreme Court’s decision, characterizing it as a symbol of both alleviation and worry, and a substantial stride in the direction of public well-being. Nonetheless, he stressed that the order should catalyze a deeper discourse on the dynamics between humans and animals, suggesting that it transcends a mere legal instruction and demands careful consideration from all parties.
