A shocking incident has plunged Tamil Nadu politics into a fresh controversy, with DMK leader Jaypalan allegedly issuing a direct threat to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A video capturing Jaypalan, the DMK South District Secretary, during a protest in Tenkasi district, shows him comparing PM Modi to ‘Narakasura’ and suggesting that the Prime Minister’s ‘elimination’ would benefit Tamil Nadu. These strong words have ignited widespread anger, particularly from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). State BJP President Nainar Nagendran has strongly condemned the comments, labeling them as an unacceptable threat against the nation’s leader and a reflection of a deteriorating law and order environment. Nagendran also pointed fingers at local DMK representatives for their passive stance during the speech, implying complicity. The BJP is pressing for Jaypalan’s immediate arrest, citing the gravity of the threat to the Prime Minister’s life and security. The controversy emerges at an inopportune time, as PM Modi is scheduled to visit Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, with events including agricultural summits and farmer welfare scheme launches in Coimbatore.
