Kannur district is reeling after a massive fire ravaged a shopping complex in Thaliparamba on Thursday evening. The fire originated in a toy shop on the ground floor of the three-story building at approximately 5:30 PM and spread with alarming speed to surrounding retail outlets. Firefighting operations are in full swing, with a significant number of fire tenders battling the flames. Officials reported that a full evacuation of the complex was achieved in time, preventing any injuries or fatalities. It is estimated that around ten shops have been completely gutted by the destructive blaze. The complex, which hosts approximately 50 shops, is a hub of commercial activity in Thaliparamba. While the investigation into the cause is ongoing, fire officials are examining the possibility of an electrical fault as the primary trigger. The intense heat and rapid spread underscore the challenges faced by emergency responders in this densely built area.
