
Security forces are currently engaged in an encounter with terrorists in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir. The 16 Corps, Indian Army, confirmed the operation on X, stating that the encounter began after a joint search operation in Kanzal Mandu, Kishtwar, based on specific intelligence. The operation is ongoing with contact established with the terrorists. Concurrently, authorities have increased security along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) due to the commencement of the Shri Amarnath Yatra. The first group of pilgrims was sent off by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Additional security measures, including facial recognition and increased CRPF surveillance, are in place.
