‘Operation Akhal’ commenced on August 1st. Three terrorists have been killed in the ongoing encounter. Following an initial exchange of fire on Friday, the operation was halted for the night. The cordon was strengthened and more troops were brought in.
The following day, when the firing resumed, two terrorists were eliminated. The identities and group affiliations of the slain terrorists are still under investigation.
Security forces have established a tight cordon around the area and are engaged in ongoing combat with terrorists who are believed to be hiding in the dense forest. Senior police and military officials, including Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief Nalin Prabhat and the Northern Commander, Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, are closely monitoring the operation around the clock.
Security forces are utilizing drones and helicopters to locate the terrorists within the forest. Para commandos are also assisting in the effort to neutralize the terrorists. The terrorists are believed to be located in a high-altitude area, from where they are monitoring the movements of the security forces. They change their positions frequently, making it difficult for the security forces to reach them.
