
India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has expressed its positive view regarding the planned meeting between the United States and the Russian Federation in Alaska on August 15. The MEA hopes this meeting will help bring an end to the war in Ukraine and pave the way for peace. The Ministry’s spokesperson noted the potential of the meeting to resolve the current conflict and initiate peace negotiations. The spokesperson recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s previous statements that emphasize that ‘This is not an era of war.’ Consequently, India has shown its support for the upcoming summit and indicated it will aid the related efforts. President Trump announced via social media that he will meet with President Putin in Alaska, next Friday, August 15, 2025. The primary objective of the meeting is expected to be the establishment of a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. During an earlier event at the White House, while signing the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace accord, Trump also indicated progress in the negotiations related to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, mentioning a near completion of a potential deal.
