
In a collaborative effort, the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and the Uttarakhand Film Development Council (UFDC) hosted a workshop in Dehradun with the goal of positioning Uttarakhand as a prime location for film production. The workshop, held on June 25, 2025, addressed crucial aspects such as policy reforms, infrastructure development, and talent nurturing. The UFDC announced incentives for films shot in less explored locations and for hiring local artists. Furthermore, plans were revealed for a state film festival, film awards, and the inclusion of regional language films on OTT platforms. The Indian Cine Hub showcased its features, highlighting its role in simplifying and integrating the permission process for filmmakers. The event also stressed the revival of community-based film viewing, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.
