A Karnataka government report has pointed the finger at Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the tragic stampede that occurred following the team’s IPL victory parade. The parade, held outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4, resulted in 11 deaths and numerous injuries. The report, submitted to the High Court, stated that RCB unilaterally organized the parade without police approval. A video appeal by Virat Kohli inviting fans was highlighted as a key factor in attracting a massive crowd, even though permission for the event had been denied. The event organizers, DNA Entertainment Networks Pvt Ltd, had only informed the police about the planned parade, but had not secured the necessary permissions. The confusion surrounding entry passes worsened the situation. The report also criticized the lack of coordination between RCB, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), and the organizers. Following the incident, the government initiated a series of actions, including inquiries and disciplinary measures.
